How Charoen Craft Came to Be
Charoen Craft opened quietly in Phuket Town, on a street where the old Sino-Portuguese shophouses still stand close together and the light in the afternoon falls at an angle that suits close work. The workshop grew from one watchmaker's preference for doing things thoroughly over doing them quickly.
The name comes from the Thai word เจริญ — to flourish, to progress steadily. We thought it fit. A well-maintained watch flourishes. So does a long-standing relationship between a craftsperson and the people who trust them with objects of real personal meaning.
We do not take on more work than we can do well. The bench holds one watch at a time, and that watch receives full attention until it is ready. It is a slower way of working, but we have found that the owners of mechanical watches — people who chose something wound by hand over something disposable — generally appreciate that.

Trained in movement service and restoration over more than fifteen years. Krit handles all movement work and leads assessments for vintage pieces.

Natchaya focuses on case finishing, crystal fitting, and bezel work. She ensures the exterior of each watch is returned to its best condition.

Prawit manages enquiries, coordinates collection and return, and ensures every owner is kept informed throughout the process with no surprises.

Standards We Hold Ourselves To
These are not policies written for a website. They reflect what we actually do in the workshop, every day.
Correct Lubricants Only
We use watchmaker-grade lubricants matched to each movement type. The right oil in the right place makes a difference that shows in the long run.
Timing Verification
Every serviced movement is checked on a timing machine before it is returned to its case. We note the rate in multiple positions and share it with the owner.
Careful Handling Throughout
Watches are stored securely and handled on padded surfaces at every stage. Components are kept in order and documented to avoid confusion during reassembly.
Written Condition Notes
We provide a written note with each completed watch, covering what was done, what was found, and anything worth watching in future. You leave with more information than you arrived with.
Owner Data Handled Discreetly
Contact details and information about your timepiece are kept only as long as needed to complete and follow up on the work. We do not share them with third parties.
Service Warranty on Workmanship
Our completed service work carries a warranty covering the quality of the workmanship. If something covered needs attention within the warranted period, we address it at no additional cost.

Mechanical watches operate on tolerances measured in microns. The oils that keep them running have finite service lives. Springs fatigue; pivots wear; balance wheels drift from their original rate. None of this is a sign that something has gone wrong — it is simply how the mechanisms age. A watch that receives attention at the right intervals will outperform and outlast one left to run until it stops.
At Charoen Craft, we see our role as extending the working life of timepieces that are worth preserving — whether that is a Swiss automatic worn daily, a Japanese manual-wind from the 1970s, or a family piece that has spent a few years in a drawer. Each arrives with its own history and its own set of needs. The assessment we carry out at the start is how we understand both.
Phuket's climate — warm, humid, with seasonal intensity — is harder on lubricants and seals than temperate environments. Watches worn here may benefit from service intervals at the shorter end of the manufacturer's recommendation. It is something we can discuss honestly once we have seen the piece.
