"I brought in my father's old Seiko, which had been sitting in a drawer for about ten years. I was not sure it could be salvaged. Krit spent a good amount of time looking it over before he even mentioned a price. The watch came back running more steadily than I could remember it ever running. The condition note explained everything that had been done, which I appreciated."

"The crystal on my dress watch cracked and I was worried about finding the right replacement. The team sourced something very close to the original and showed it to me before fitting. The bezel, which had been a little loose, is now properly seated. I was kept informed throughout and there were no surprises on the bill."

"I have a small collection of vintage pieces and I have tried several workshops over the years. What I noticed here — and valued — was that nobody tried to oversell the work. They told me one of the watches did not need a service yet, which saved me money. The one they did service came back in noticeably better shape. I will plan visits around my trips to Phuket."

"My grandfather's watch went in for a full restoration. I was told from the start that the process would take several weeks and I should not expect a quick turnaround. That was fine — the watch had been waiting for decades. The written plan they gave me before starting was reassuring. It came back running well and looking close to how I imagine it once looked."

"I had my sports watch serviced — a diver that I wear almost every day in Phuket's heat. They mentioned the climate's effect on lubricants, which I had not considered, and suggested a slightly shorter service interval given conditions. That felt like practical, local knowledge rather than something I would have found in a manual."

"The crystal on my wife's watch had a chip on the edge — not broken, but noticeable. Charoen Craft sourced a replacement that matched the original very closely. The work was careful, explained clearly, and done within the time I was given. Small job, but handled as if it mattered."

Three Watches, Three Outcomes

A closer look at how we approached some of the more involved work that has come through the workshop.

Case Study 01

A 1968 Swiss Manual-Wind

Service: Full Vintage Restoration

Challenge

The movement had not run in over twenty years. Several pivots were dry, one wheel had visible wear marks, and the mainspring required replacement. The dial and hands were original and needed to be left untouched.

Approach

A written plan was prepared and agreed before work began. The movement was fully disassembled, cleaned, and rebuilt. A correct-era mainspring was sourced. The worn wheel was replaced with a period-appropriate component. Dial and hands were cleaned only with the most conservative method.

Result

The watch now runs at a consistent rate verified on the timing machine. The original dial and hands were returned untouched. The owner described it as looking and running "better than he could have hoped."

Case Study 02

A Daily-Wear Japanese Automatic

Service: Service & Oiling

Challenge

The owner had noticed the watch losing four to six minutes per day — well outside its original specification. The watch had not been serviced since purchase, roughly seven years prior, and was worn daily in a warm, coastal environment.

Approach

After disassembly, the rotor bearing showed wear and the oils throughout had degraded. The movement was cleaned fully, the rotor bearing replaced, and fresh lubricants applied in correct quantities and positions. The climate and wear pattern were noted in the condition record.

Result

The watch was returned running within the manufacturer's specified accuracy range. The owner was advised to consider a service within four years given the daily wear in Phuket conditions. A shorter interval than the manufacturer's standard recommendation.

Case Study 03

A Sports Diver with a Cracked Crystal

Service: Crystal & Bezel Service

Challenge

The owner had struck the crystal against a boat rail. There was a clean crack across the face and a chip at the edge. The water resistance had been compromised and the bezel click was noticeably uneven. The movement appeared undamaged.

Approach

A compatible sapphire replacement was located and presented to the owner with the cost before proceeding. The crystal was replaced, the bezel click mechanism cleaned and its spring checked, and the case tube and crown gasket refreshed. The movement itself was left untouched.

Result

The watch was returned with a correctly seated crystal, an even bezel click, and refreshed sealing. The owner described the result as looking "better than before the accident." The movement had not been disturbed unnecessarily.
